Use quality when you just want smaller files that still look good. Use asize limit when a website or form says something like “maximum 1 MB”. The tool then makes every photo fit under that limit.

With “Balanced” selected, most people can’t see a difference on screen, and files usually get much smaller. Choose “Best quality” for printing or editing later.
Yes. Choose Set a size limit and enter the maximum, for example 500 KB or 1 MB. The tool finds the best quality that fits, and only shrinks the dimensions if it has to.
A detailed, high-resolution photo can only be compressed so far before it looks bad. In that case the tool also reduces the pixel size and tells you the new dimensions.
