How to remove location from photos on iPhone
Your iPhone can save exactly where each photo was taken. You can leave it out when you share, remove it from photos you’ve already taken, or stop the camera saving it at all.
Updated October 22, 2026
1. Remove location when you share (quickest)
- In Photos, select the photo or photos.
- Tap the Share button, then tap Options at the top.
- Turn off Location and tap Done.
- “Location Not Included” now shows above Options. Share as usual.
Only the copy you send loses its location; your library keeps it.
2. Remove location from a photo you already have
- Open the photo in Photos and tap More (…).
- Tap Adjust Location, then No Location.
You can select several photos first to clear them all at once.
3. Stop saving location in new photos
- Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
- Tap Camera and choose Never.

Removing location on a computer
Got the photos on a Mac or PC already? Our remove location tool clears GPS and camera details from a whole batch in your browser, without uploading anything. To see what a photo reveals first, use the photo metadata viewer. More background: what your photos reveal about your location.
