PNG keeps every pixel exactly as it is. That’s perfect for graphics with flat colors, but photos and detailed screenshots end up very large. JPG is designed for photos: it drops detail your eye won’t notice, so the same picture takes far less space.
Photos and screenshots saved as PNG often shrink by 70–90% as JPG. The exact amount depends on the image; you’ll see the before and after size for every file.
JPG can’t be transparent, so they’re filled with white. You can choose another color under More options.
Not always. JPG can make sharp edges and small text look slightly fuzzy. For logos and graphics, try PNG to WebP, which keeps edges crisp and transparency intact.
