What size should website images be?

For full-width images, about 1920 px wide is plenty for most screens. Images inside a text column rarely need more than 1200 px. Aim for under about 200–300 KB per image where you can.

WebP or AVIF?

WebP is fast to create and supported everywhere today. AVIF is usually smaller still but slower to create. Either is a big improvement over large JPGs or PNGs.

Does image size really affect SEO?

Page speed is part of Google’s page experience signals (Core Web Vitals), and large images are the most common cause of slow pages. Smaller images also keep visitors from leaving before the page loads.

Are my images uploaded?
